Specimen collected by Bob Stecher, (montanamadman), near Waterloo, Iowa, and given to me on Easter Sunday, 2011. I cleaned the specimen for display. Pics don't do justice to this piece. It's completely covered with quartz micro crystals. Thanks for the beautiful specimen Madman. Don

Got another from the same location that I'm still cleaning. It has a pocket of quartz crystals in limestone, with coral growing on the crystals. Gonna be an unusual specimen. I'll try to get a good pic when it's clean. Don

Here's the coral growing on quartz crystals. Sorry about the blueish color. I need to get better lighting. First without cropping. Next is cropped. This piece was collected from the same quarry as the first piece. Don

Very cool with the quartz crystals and coral structures . Looks to be - prismatophyllum , or pachyphyllum .

Thanks Ted. I'll look those up for comparison. Wish I could have gotten a better pic. One of these days the sun will come out again, and I'll get a better pic. Don

Madman does find some great pieces. He is blessed with a job that really suits his hobby.
