I found this while digging a new flower bed. I believe it might be the hand piece from an Indian bow drill. It measures 37MM wide X 51MM long X 7MM thick. The center indentation is 28MM Dia., about 5MM deep and spherical in shape. The indent is semi polished, as if something had been spun or rubbed in it over a long period of time. Any ideas on this one ? Don

I have a couple of old indian bowls like that, the ones I found were for putting berries in and mushing them for paint..... Could still see the dark reds in it.....Cool find ...........Hope you ID it too.

This one didn't have any color other than the clay dirt it had been buried in. Took a lot of scrubbing and several cycles in the ultrasonic to get it as clean as it is. The Lakota Sioux have a museum here in Aberdeen. Maybe I'll take it down there, and let them look at it. Found 4 small game or bird points while digging in the same flower bed. Don

Wow! Let us know if you get a confirmation when you take it down, Don. Wish I had your luck! Jo

Wish I had that luck too Jo. I love anything Native American. The few things I've found on my property makes me want to dig and screen all 8 acres.

Got a creek close by? They always camped close to water, try digging a test hole deep to see if any older habitation shows up.Love it.

Hey Snuffy, a seasonal creek runs along the east side of my property. I doubt if there would have been a permanent camp here, as we're prone to flooding. But I wouldn't be surprised if hunting camps were set up here. There has been some serious digging a few miles N.E. of me, and they've turned up several layers of artifacts.

Don, that's really cool. I dig in my yard all the time, but have never found anything. Keep digging and keep us up to date on what you find. Love it!
