I was speaking with an artisan today who had bought some rocks reputed to be 'Fire Jade'.... I don't have a picture but thought I would ask here if anyone has heard of this rock before?? She says it is the colour of olive jade but with bright red streaks in it, they don't appear translucent or sparkly either.
When I get a pic from her I will post unless someone can come to the rescue before that...
Thanks!

I have a few small slabs of this material. Mine are a deeper translucent green. I haven't heard of it as fire jade. To me it was just jade (nephrite) with an unusual red streak in it. Don

Tom, what I have is real nephrite jade. I collected it myself many years ago in Northern California. I have several pieces of nephrite from the same area, but this was the only one that displayed a red inner streak. Don

I've seen nephrite specimens here in Wyoming that have a wide variety of different colored inclusions...due to the way jade is formed there is a huge variety in the finished product... www.timelessjade.com/page/4/this link has some pictures of different patters in wyoming nephrite, including red ones...scroll down to the bottom
