Here is a Clovis point I popped out the other day from TV screen glass. Getting the fluting down pretty good now. Still a wee bit nerve racking doing the flute since there is a total failure factor involved in getting the flute. Woody

That looks REALLY good Woody!!! How many points are you able to get out of a TV screen? I read your post and then realized.... What a GREAT way to recycle!!!

That looks so very sharp, it's amazing you have any fingers left. Great job!

Looks great Woody! I like the long fluting -almost to the point!! I've made a couple from picture tubes also and they knap great. Mine have almost a prismatic effect, and straight on it is hard to see the flaking except in the right lighting - must be the higher qualily of the glass in the tube.
Fossilman - Glass jar and bottle bottoms are an excellent(and cheap) way to practice flaking for points- this is how I started. With clear glass, you can see your flake patterns better than stone and can keep track of your progress easier as you get better.

Fossilman:
You are pretty close to obsidian heaven...Glass Buttes. Great variety of colours, and unmeasureable amounts of plain black for practice. The annual knappin is March, but there is almost always a few knappers camped there. so drive on over, pick up obsidian, and get a few free lessons at the same time. Woody
