Here is what I did last Thursday afternoon knapping with a fried. These are not finished, but you can get the idea. All of these will be knives, and all are made from obsidian flat slab knapped from Glass Buttes, Oregon. Woody

Fossilman: Obsidian does not need cooking. I do have a small burnout kiln for silverwork, but have never cooked any rock.
You need to get over to Glass Buttes, and collect some obsidian. There are almost always knappers camped there, so you could get some on site lessons to boot.......no body ever charges new comers. Woody Woody
