I got a box of this in a swap with Tanya. I haven't cut up the bigger pieces yet, these were the smaller ones.I used small bots and a little carnelian as filler in this lot-o load. The box of rough i693.photobucket.com/albums/vv299/snuffygerald/P1010074-4.jpg[/IMGThis was what was in the rough. The flint Stripes Bot filler Thanks for looking snuffy

Those look awesome Snuffy! I've never tried flint yet. Question for you, I'm amazed at how fast you are able to shape your stones and get a batch finished. How do you do your initial roughing? I still have agates in my rotaries that have been roughing for 3 months and aren't nearly as well shaped as what you turn out in half the time?
Thanks ~ Krystee

Krystee,I keep about 10 tumblers going. The workhorses are the Lortone 12lb'ers.They rough out rocks so much faster than my smaller tumblers. I roll these until ready and I have 2 lot-o's, one is 3 days 1000,the other 3 days polish, thus I get a finished batch every 3 days.I usually have 70 lbs turning in different stages, enough that the vibes run 24/7.

Ah, I see. I have a friend that runs a few 12lb Lortones too and she says the same thing about being much faster. I do a lot of preforms just to keep my Lot-O running while waiting on the rotaries, I think it's time to upgrade Thank you! ~Krystee

That's some nice material and a great finish. That nice assortment of filler sizes is important on my rotary tumblers, is it key to a good finish on the vibes as well?

Carlos,I think the same applies to vibes as the rotaries. I've got a large bowl of the bots and carnelian roughed out,and I put a handful or two in most batches.I use the ceramics in with my slabbettes if the slabs are larger.I figure I would rather be polishing rocks than repolishing ceramics over and over. snuffy
