Hey all. I've been reading all of the praise about borax, and how some folks can't seem to find it in the stores. Is it sold as "Boraxo" as in "20 mule team" like the ads on TV in the 60's? My wife tried to find it the other nite in the grocery store an she said all they had was Boraxo, so she didn't get it. Let me know please.
thanks, Ed

Hey Kim. Thanks for the links. I guess if I wanted my rocks to smell good and not dry out, I could use Boraxo. If anyone is interested in more info about Borax, try this link: www.borax.comlater,Ed

I happened to be driving by a Long's Drugstore and stopped in to see if they carried it, and there it was, right next to the fell's naptha. So thanks again, and anyone else looking for it, try Longs. I'm gonna go clean some rocks.
later, Ed

I just bought some tonight. I wanted to try it because Cascade has phosphates in it. I've read that you should only use non-phosphate soaps for rocks. I'll see how it works.

I'm still trying a lot of things with this borax, but my early opinion is that a little bit goes a long way. I'm talking something like maybe 1 tbs per quart of water. If it won't go into solution, then you've used too much.

Greetings All,
I finally started using borax to clean the rocks between stages and IT WORKS! I thought I was washing the rocks well, but after putting them through just one hour of borax there was so much dirt/grit that came off it made me wonder how I had gotten any rocks polished at all. From now on I will incorporate a 1 or 2 hour run with borax after each and every stage.

No need to change anything except substitute borax for the Cascade.
