Howdy All! I'm flirting with the idea of wintering in "Q", this season, last time was 2004. I was more focused on gold prospecting at that time, but now lapidary is my passion. I had the opportunity to make my very 1 st cab at the Gem & mineral club's awesome shop. I'm wondering- cost of membership fee, cost of shoptime, and what classes are planned for the upcoming season. Anybody that can help with this info, would be greatly appreciated.

Howdy Uncle Soska, the website that Christopher gave you is good, but if you want more info... we spent last winter in Q and had a blast. Also joined the G&M Club and did some faceting and silversmithing. There is a nominal fee to join the club and you have to take a mandatory orientation class that costs $6, I think. But then you can sign up for classes at the different workshops that all cost a nominal fee. Most also have free time where you can go work on projects for a nominal fee. The instructors are great, space is limited so you need to sign up for stuff.
If you go to my blog in my signature, I've just gone through and added labels to my blogposts throughout and if you click on "Quartzsite" label on the right hand side toward the top, it will bring up all my Quartzsite adventures with pictures to show you more.
Also, RTH member Aunuts (another Jo) is the past president of the Quartzsite G&M Club and you can PM her with any specific questions.
Hope this helps and hope to see you there this winter! Jo

Thanks for the link, Christopher, I googled for the site yesterday w/o any luck. Your link worked fine. Jo- Thanks for the info! I know aunuts from my gold mining days, so will be in contact. Are there fees for the classes, and/or charges for materials that you know of? I'm looking at taking as many classes as possible, keeping in line w/ my finances.

But... we were told that the price may go up for the kits for the classes that use silver, to cover the higher cost of the silver. Jo
