Thanks Paul !! have you started the calico lace yet ? Todd , The one with the rocks is a sears six pound tumbler , the fossils are in a barrel from a star diamond six pounder . 88pathoffroad , i put 8 tbsp in at start , then added 1 tbsp , when i checked , the grit was perty much mud , hope the one added is enough to get them ?

Ted, like gr I don't spare the grit. For 12 lbs I use about 1-1/4 cups (=20 TBS) It is usually gone in 5 days. I set aside the ones that are smooth enough for the next stage, but most stay in coarse for 2-3 weeks. Then again, I am tumbling Montana agate and jasperish rocks which are extra hard. When doing a wash-off I first reserve some slurry for starter, then dump the load into a bucket and run a hose into it. Any remaining grit settles at the bottom and can be added back into the barrel.
