I find these once in a while and was wondering if someone knows them as something different. They are about the size of a quarter and less. Never have found a bigger one than these in the 5 years of hounding this area. The white looking one (top left), I found in a parking lot in Springerville Az. about 90 miles S E of Holbrook To small to work so I'm just going to tumble them in the next available 6lb'er.

Not bubble gums. A bubble gum looks just like it sounds. Like a piece of chewed bubble gum that someone spit out on the ground.

Yep, even though the color scheme is similar, those are some sort of fortification agate. In bubblegums, the banding is not usually that distinct....Mel

Adrian, you wouldn't want to know. They were mostly cursed by the farmers trying to till their fields.

Adrian's question is along the same line as wondering how they measured the size of hail stones before the game of golf was invented. Bob

Those are Lake Superior Agates, except for maybe the one in the upper right, which is probably a South Dakota Prairie Agate. As they get older, they begin migrating to Arizona every fall to escape the winter. You should start seeing a lot more after Thanksgiving. (Well that is what they look like, how else are you going to explain it?)
