Does anyone have any pics of bubblegums after they've been tumbled?? I have a bunch and was thinking about polishing some up to turn into jewelry...but I'm kinda partial to their bubblegummy natural state so was just wondering what they ended up looking like. Thanks!!

Kate,
The search function barely works on this one. Keyword bubblegum. Deselect all forums. Now select "Totally Rock Tumbling Photos", "Creating Cabochons" and Specimen Photographs. Go to the bottom and search the last 180 days. I see 3 nice pics of tumbled bubblegum agates.

These are some BG's that I've done The rough BG's I think you will be happy with your BG's when they are finished. They do tumble up nicely. I tumble mine to fairly rounded but, you said that you like the natural state. You'll have to monitor the rough grind stage to get them to where you "almost" want them and then move on the the next stage as the smaller grits don't remove much material; but a little will will be removed. Good Luck! gr

Thanks guys!! They are pretty polished, although I still like the really "gloopy" ones I think. I'll have to experiment a little. It seems like the colors really come out alot brighter when they're polished up.

South Dakota Bubblegums, rough and tumbled: Probably one of my favorite agate types to tumble.....Mel PS: Prairie Agate is also an awesome tumbling material if you choose the banded ones.

If you could try a vibratory tumbler, maybe you start them at 500 grit, then go to pre-polish, then polish. Might come out looking like gum you just took out of your mouth. Maybe that's not the look you're going for. :-)

I'm thinking I want a vibe though. They work on these harder rocks a little quicker right?

I finish my bubblegums in a vibe but coarse grind them in a rotary and believe me, they take a freaking long time in coarse grind to get rid of all the pits, grooves and various irregularities....Mel
