The only reason Reid blocked it is because he knows that he doesn't have the Dem votes to pass it. Even the slightly smarter Dems are starting to turn against Obama's Spend Spend Spend policies.

In his last speech, Obama said the Reps were holding up his jobs bill. Does the man live in this world or some other far far away place. (No need to reply, I know the answer)

The jobs bill is simply a way to log miles on airforce 1 for 2012 campaigning at taxpayer expense. Since all of his plans have failed miserably his only recourse in his re-election efforts is to set up a straw man to distract voters from that fact. His idea seems to be to get voters to join him in his temper tantrum against "the rich".
If I were a campaign strategist for the Republicans I would suggest they stick with a simple statement, IT'S THE SPENDING, STUPID.

Spending one's way out of debt would be a good trick. Too bad that anyone living in the real world knows better.
As for the jobs plan, From DC Junkies: "according to the median estimate of the 34 economists surveyed, the president’s jobs bill would “add or keep” 275,000 jobs in 2012, and just 13,000 in 2013. That comes out to a total of 288,000 jobs ‘kept or added’ over the next two years...Obama’s bill, meanwhile, carries a $447 billion price tag, which works out to a little more than $1.6 million for every job ‘kept or added.’ Simple math, as the president would say.$1.6 million per job saved or created. Let that number marinate for a moment: If passed, Obama's jobs plan would cost $1.6 million taxpayer dollars for every job it would save or create -- according to the very economists Team Obama is touting. This is insane."

There currently is a bill in congress to make the eVerify system mandatory for all employers. Currently it is voluntary. This system checks new employee job application data against the government's Social Security data base. It weeds out the illegals that are using stolen or otherwise illegally gotten SS numbers. (Isn't using someone else's SS numbers identity theft, a punishable crime??). This system would get the illegals working at Taco Bell, MacDonalds and such out of there so our young people could get those jobs. The farmers are against the program but there currently is a visa system available to hire these illegals as temporary workers but the farmers don't want to be forced to use the program. Bob

Shoot, all I ever see Obama doing is flying around at our expense campaigning and fundraising. Would be nice to see the yahoo put in a days work once and awhile instead of rehashing the same old lines over and over and over again....Mel

eVerify has serious problems. As I understand it the employer can only use it with an employee he has decided to hire, he can't simply use it to check applicants for a position. If eVerify shows a problem the new employee is entitled to a series of appeals during which the employer cannot discharge the employee, even for reasons other than the eVerify. The appeal process can take over a year, during which time the employer is forced to invest in training someone who will most likely leave when the appeals run out.
