OK! I know the pics I've seen on here are amazing. My pics are not very good, but here is my first tumble. It's not much, but I'm proud of how they turned out. Sorry for the poor quality pictures but I took them with my phone I did have some close ups of my faves, but they are too blurry. The start of it all ... possibly many years of addiction to tumbling...After 1 week of tumbling: The final product after 4 weeks:It's not much, but hey...I'm a rookie! Thanks for looking.

For the first batch you did quite well. You have lots of color and shine on the stones. Tom

I totally agree with snuffy. May I suggest either Rock Shed [they send candy:) ] or Kingsley North fer grit an such not. Might as well buy it in BIG orders cause yer gonna need it. Once ya start, ya cant quit. Later Clyde

Thank you. Some did facture though. you can't see it in the pictures. Some of the amethyst and the quartz. A bit dissapointed in that but my girlfriend says that it gives them character. I think the problem is that I didn't have the barrels full enough or didn't have enough pellets. I do like them alot and I am pretty glad my tigers eye and hawks eye didn't crack. Ya..I'm going to be hooked.

likely the amy quartz and quartz had fractures before tumbling .

Tandl is right, your quartz and amethyst probably had fractures before you tumbled them, and you just couldn't see them. But for future reference, if you want to tumble rose quartz, amethyst, plain quartz--I always separate them from the jaspers and agates. Although they are the same hardness, the quartzes are more "brittle," i.e., more prone to fracture. Some people on here tumble them together and do great, but I've never been able to.
As for your batch, I'm impressed! You had the patience to shape them well, and I can see some good shiners in there. Far superior to my first (or twelfth) batch!

Looks good! My batches still don't look that good. Still looking for that "Patience in a Can" that John (JohnJSGems) mentioned he had for sale. I really need some patience when it comes to this hobby. Great job! Paul

Well that's good to hear! Thank you.
Tomorrow I take my second batch out. This time it's rocks we picked down by the river. I'm hoping for some nice one.
I don't know what type they are... I call them river rock, but I'm sure they are something else.
