"Walmart mentality" lol, you hit the nail on the head. My wire wrap sales are few and far between at the shows, but tumble pendants sell by the handful. Those look great! I especially like the geode pendants, and your method of free-forming them is definitely cool.

Not only that, but you were really artistic to sprinkle that confetti all over them like that! (Just kidding, I know they're color code stickers, LOL) Beautiful stones and a great display you have there. Jo

Thanks for all the kind comments. Like Randy says wire wrap sales aren't that great. I'm lucky to sell 6 at any show, most are 2 or 3.

Sorry about that but walmart has created a sense in many people that everything has to be cheaply produced and priced.I can show these people a wirewrap w/a better quality stone and 40$ worth of silver wire for $60 and they say it's too much $. My brother also works at walmart for along time and agrees.

I agree with ya ...I did a show down here for the balloon races.... I sold two wraps at the Flea Market and a good bit of tumbled stone....Alot of OHHHH thats pretty...took them to work and sold ten this past week....I guess it is more of an appreciation of knowing what it takes to get them done.... I like the dot concept... John

Hello there! So that's what you were talking about! One of the things that comes to mind with this is "What show are you doing? Out here we have the crafty gem/jewelry shows and craft fairs and then there are jurried shows, like Rhinebeck. Steep fee to get into these, but at the jurried shows, $60.00 for a pendant is considered rediculous underpricing because the venders are considered to be "artists" and their work "art" rather than "cool crafty stuff." It's a very different clientelle that seeks art rather than "cool crafty stuff." 2-4 shows per year, with an assortment of finished stones that could be custom wrapped for clients wishing to order along with a nice assortment of wrapped ones could be an entire years worth of work because of the custom orders... Just a thought.
Glad to see you back!

I do different kinds of shows. My next 2 are juried, the 1st is more a craft than art but the 2nd is an art show at the Nicolayson Museum in Casper,WY. The last art show I did over 1/2 of the show was 5$ pendants, sold 200 of them.

Come on guys, we are talking about people who may have limited resources, or may even be buying jewelry for children, but who nevertheless understand and appreciate the difference between real stone -- polished and bailed (?) by the person selling them, and dyed stones, glass, CZ or even resin -- mass produced in another country and sold at Walmart (and many many other places). Some of "them" are us, they just don't know it yet!
