Hello all. It's been forever since I've posted here but I've been busier than a pair of jumper cables at a redneck wedding. It's been a bad month for my vibe tumblers. The motor on my 18 lb UV seized up. Not the first time this happened. I have replaced the bearings a couple of times in it. I replaced the bearings again but the motor was no go. So I'll be ordering a new motor from Thumlers for $98 (ouch). My second vibe a UV10 had one of the rubber grommets that hold the bearings and armature in place split and the motor literally shook itself to pieces including shearing of the steel straps that hold the motor in place. I found a Fasco replacement motor on emotor.com for under $60. And was able to replace the steel straps by cutting, bending, and drilling some 1/8 inch steel strap I got at Home Depot. My neighbor wasn't too pleased when I decided to do this fabrication at 10 o'clock at night... Anyway the motor is replaced and I decided to take some preventative measures since the motors occasionally get sludge in them from me running them full of water to clean them out. Since I replaced the threaded rod numerous times the foam rubber pad on the top of the motor base has seen better days. So I bought a 12 inch square of 1/8 inch sheet rubber at Grainger. I cut a small 'x' in the center then bolted it between two fender washers and nuts. Then I trimmed the excess off. I'll use the excess to make rubber washers. Now the tumbler is running and is super quiet with the addition of the rubber sheet.
