I haven't ran my tumbler in what seems like ages. I finally got around to starting a batch in late august. Abigail and I had gone to a local rock swap and picked up a handful of rough emeralds to tumble, so I got it running the next day.
All I did was add a bunch of saw scrap and other smaller local finds to fill the barrel. I grabbed everything in sight, regardless of size or hardness. It's a 3 lb Thumblers, and I just add plastic pellets throughout the stages for the proper volume.
Here's the whole batch.
Here's the emeralds, the reason for the batch. I'm not happy with how they turned out, but whatever.
Here's the local pieces. At 9 o'clock there's coral, gabbro, hornfels and quartz I've found around here. Pretty much all the rest is stuff from my rockhunt with Ted in Ill. including chert, quartz, & a few pieces of geodes.
Here's some bloodstone, amethyst, t-egg hunks, mary ellen jasper
Obsidian including midnight lace, mohogany, gold sheen, rainbow & silver sheen
Various Arizona agates form Brian (beefjello). The bottom lacy one is a stowaway, and the striped one next to it is banded rhyolite collected by a friend in NM.
Other agates I'm not sure from where. Emily loves the heart shaped one.
Some brazillian and montanas. There's a little piece of bat cave jasper at the bottom, and the dark ones top left are the blue dino bone I picked up this summer.
A pendant I made from a piece form Brian.I think this may be brenda agate
Here's a close-up of a piece of a geode from down by Ted
Local puddingstone ( shoulda been run in rough longer)
Emily called this "Triangle Fandangle" It's agate from Ill and hornfels form here
I think that's all. I started another batch today with stones from this summer's vacations, so I'm back in the groove.
Thanks for looking.
Nate
