I'm looking for tips on tumbling stabilized turquoise.

I've tumbled it in a vibrating tumbler. Once stabilized it pretty much tumbles "normally". I had trouble polishing mine and went to Vibra Dry from DP. Polished too well, looked like plastic. I would advise watching a little closer than rocks to get a good result.

Hi, Michael, if you only have a rotary:
1. 3 days in 120/220, then assess. 2. A day or so in 500 3. A day or so in 1000 4. I polished with Rockshed AO.
In each of the above steps, I used Ivory Soap shavings to thicken and cushion, as well as 1/2 ceramic shapes. If memory serves me correctly, I also added water to the top of the stones, which significantly slowed down the action.
My limited experience indicates that turquoise varies greatly, so the above is just a guide.

Susan,
Thanks - I've been doing some minor shaping with a flexible shaft and now that I have some finer grit I'll be back at it. I let you know how they come out.
