Went yesterday to Turnberry beach (south Ayrshire) with my daughters,son-in-law, and grandson. While there, saw a guy with two dogs walking along the beach. I then introduced myself to Dermot (Celt40 of this board) along with another gentlemen who seems to be a prolific hiker. It was great putting a face to a name and as usual with members of this board, Dermot was only too happy to pass on advice and encouragement. As Dermot is in touch with Jack (Yorkshire) no doubt I'll meet up with him in time. I'm still waiting for my flatlap to be shipped to the UK agent and I'm just collecting and cutting stone. I believe my son-in-law could very easily fall for this hobby as I have.

Very cool. Who wouldda thunk you'd meet another member just strolling on a beach in Scotland. That's an awesome story. Jo

Hi Harry,
That is good news I have seen Dermot a few times and he gave me some nice rock last time I saw him,
I hope you can help each other from time to time and share the wonderful rock,s of Scotland
Well I might get up to see you some time It is always a plesure to meet some other "Rockhounds " in UK
Hope you get the flat lap OK, what size is it ?
I get dimond discs from Rocklady usa about £14-00 each ,There is a new system out now using a magnetic backing plate ,which gives a quick change of discs
have a good day
