This first one stumps me. The darker parts are clear quartz, and the creamier parts sort of look like common opal -- not just ordinary quartz, but not quite right for Chalcedony either. The threads or ribbons in it are brilliant emerald green, and transparent. Unknown Jasper: Unknown Picture Jasper:

Thanks Jim, that was real helpful. I forgot to include a coin in the picture, but that first one is 7/8" thick, 1 3/4" wide x 3 1/2" long. The other two are the same scale.

First one looks to be mariposite. Type location was just over the hill from my old ranch at John C. Fremont's Pinetree and Josephine Mine It's a mix of fuchsite, dolomite, and quartz. Very mixed hardness.....Mel

Mel,
Oh yea, I can see that. I checked a couple pics on the net. You nailed it. I assume then that it might be polished on a wheel or flat lap, tricky perhaps, but I should not try to tumble it, right?
Any idea what the two Jaspers might be?

That green just jumps out at ya. When you send it to Jim, break it in half and send me the other.
