it has and older style frame, and octogon, instead of my rounder frame on the lot-o i have. the barrel doesn't quite fit it? same barrel as i have. and the barrel touches the ends of the frame but doesn't touch the sides and after a couple of minutes of running the barrel is kinda cockeyed in place and slipped down in the frame and tilted with the barrel opening next to the side of the frame by the motor. maybe i can get a picture of it... charlie

Hi Charles
I see there is a gap on the side (Last Photo) can you "Shim it" with a couple of pices of wood so the bowl jams in tight ?
The bowl must fit tight for the Lot"O" to work
If you made 2 bits like a L upside down they would sit on the frame, or you could stick them on the frame ,
1/2 the free play distance to take up freeplay + a 1/16th to add a bit of presure for the down bit (that contacts the barrel
Job Done ?

i was thinking of that but was curious as to why the bowl doesn't fit. i don't think the frame is bent but it might be. maybe something is missing to keep the bowl tight on the sides. the club member i got this from has another lot o also so maybe he got them mixed up? thanks for the info. charlie

Charlie,,,It looks to me like the front of the fame is bent forward? Measure the front frame at the very top to the back and at the very bottom to the back. I don't know how the frame could possibly get bent out without a LOT of force but it looks that way to me? You can also compare the front frame angle to the base on both of your units which should definitely tell you if the front of the frame is bent outward.
If all else fails give Tom a call at Bell.

ok, just used my carpenter clamp to squeeze in the sides so they fit the same as the back and front. now i have it running and the bowl is not slipping down. will adjust more if need be. thanks for the suggestion of measuring the distances... it worked. charlie

after i got the sides fixed i discovered two broken springs on the back side. replaced them and loaded it up. it still had a problem. the rocks were only moving half as fast as the original lot-o i have. finally called the number on the front of the unit. kim answered the phone and went through all the questions about broken frame and loose mounting and springs and such. everything was ok so she asked about the wooden dowel under the back of the unit. said if there was give there it could cause the problem. and she suggested moving it slightly. took the dowel out and then put it back in about half a width of the dowel towards the back. it was working excellent then, just like the original unit i have. so called mark who i traded a 3/4 horse motor for it which he put on his 10" saw. both of us benefited. so i called mark and told him the lot-o was working great. he asked if i wanted his second lot-o. asked him what he wanted. $40 and i got and extra barrel with it... had 4 broken springs which i had here from the other fixing jobs. mounted it on a 4x8x16 block like the other lot-o's are on and loaded it up and its working well. not much more noise for three running instead of two. charlie
