If rocks do not polish as well as expected can you put them back in the tumbler with other rocks to be polished or will they contaminate the unpilished rock?

I have put them back in as long as they are clean they shouldn't contaminate.

Depends on why they are not polishing. Are they soft? Have they not been ground down enough? Defective?

I have often taken rocks back to the prepolish and polish steps when the finish comes out hazy. It usually helps. Sometimes a rock breaks during the polish step and messes up the finish on the others.
