Hope this is the right place to post this - I didn't think that recently knapped stones would be considered artifacts ! Anyway, stumbled across this site the other day, when I Googled "green obsidian" then looked through the "images for green obsidian." www.woodyblackwell.com/portfolio.htmlIf you have time, click the link on the top right of his page that says "more sculptures." This is the coolest stuff I've seen in a while. I never would have thought that metal bottlecaps could be so beautiful! The man is talented! Jean

Holy cow... those fire opal ones are crazy looking... wonder how much material he removed to make those?

Never been really interested in any post about Knapping, but I'm certainly glad I had a peek at that one. A lot of those pieces look absolutely fantastic.
The range of colors and materials are mesmerizing.

Very nice post. Another layer of artistry with rocks. Those are some sweet arrowheads.

Wow wow wow I could grind a bunch of those beautiful stones down and make some awesome cabs out of them. Well I could!!! But I would probably be put on death row if I wasn't killed first. Beautiful work. My son used to knap and got to the point where his friends would not believe him when he told them that he found a new arrow head. He has hiked all over Montana and has a pretty good collection of clovis points. When we go hounding we do not get in each others way because we are looking for two different things. The way I see it is that rocks are much easier to find than arrow heads. lol Jim

I've never cared for knapping myself, but these pieces are just exceptional. Such a wide variety of material, and such skill in making them - not to mention the great photography. And his other sculptures, even though they are not rocks, are just out of this world. This guy is truly an artist! I figured with all the ruckus going on, we needed a diversion.
