I asked several questions here and got great advice. Thanl you to those who helped me. Now I have what is probably a stupid question. I keep seeing rough for sale that is referred to as "unsearched". What does that mean?

It's low quality. It hasn't been picked over or high graded, but it's not the best to begin with.

To me it means that it hasn't been gone through or graded, so therefore the quality has yet to be determined. It may be low grade, mid grade, high grade or a mixture of some/all of them. If it has been searched, you can be positive there will be no high grade in there, so unsearched means you "might" get a good surprise.

It means the stuff is of such a poor quality that nobody has even bothered to look through it to see if there is anything valuable in it, 'cause they already know there isn't. I'm exaggerating a little maybe, but not much. The other two warning flags are "rare" and "old stock". If the vendor uses all three terms in the description, run the other way.
The good stuff and the best prices are over on "The Buy Sell and Swap Shop for Members" part of the forum. This is not an exaggeration.

On the flip side, I bought some "searched" stuff and it was 95% trash.
Didn't stop me from tumbling it though!
