Just came across this ad, posted Wednesday on San Diego Craigslist: sandiego.craigslist.org/ssd/jwl/3206663143.htmlDoes $300 sound cheap for 100 fire opals, or is it because they are smaller (5mm to 15mm)? Just wondering what their story is... Jean

Jim, that's what I was wondering. I emailed the seller, and he told me they were from Queretaro, Mexico, that he's had them for years. He said he used to assist a friend that traveled to Mexico, that has since passed away of old age.
If these were indeed the ones in question, would there be any way for them to be identified?
Jason - no, not really. I'm not too much into fire opals, certainly not that many of them, and I don't have $300 burning a hole in my pocket. Like I said, I was just curious about them. Jean
