I went to visit a new friend of mine from the San Carlos Indian Res who has a Peridot claim, he just hauled out 20#'s and was letting a few of us high grade the pile before the winter shows. I never seen so much facet grade peridot at one time. Here are the few I selected under light. I need to dust off the faceter. :-) Tim

Hi Ed,
I have never personally collected there, my club did a trip there a few years ago, I heard everyone left with big smiles. The guy I got his from does give pay tours to the mine and you are free to collect, I will probably take him up on his offer later this winter.

Hi Jan, I have never personally collected the Ant Hill Garnets, but a friend of mine has and he gave me a bucket full of the gravel, here is a pic of what I got from it. We keep talking about getting back there to collect, but it is a long drive for a day trip. Maybe I can camp out at Gary's since it is in his neck of the woods. :-) Tim

Tim, thank you for posting those pretty Ant Hill Garnets!! I would love to see one of the ancient ant hills where the ants collect them. Smart ants with a bit of taste!! Are you allowed to take pictures on the Reservation?

Nice. Bet you were excited. Those would make a person want to facet stones even if they had never done it before. jeff

Those look great! I am in the Phoenix area, I would love to go up there sometime. Is it well known in the area and its just a matter of following signs or is it a know someone type of situation?

Hi Custommike,
The only way you can even visit the location is if you know a member of the San Carlos Res. and they have a claim their. I hear that if you go to some of the local stores in San Carlos and ask around you should be able to find someone selling some.
Good luck,
Tim
