Jonje was wondering at the best method of orienting thindereggs for cutting. I don't even own a saw. Can anyone else throw out some advice? Thanks.

a friend of mine that digs them in new mexico marks them before he removes them from the ground -- think he marks n/s with a compass, then after a few are cut can tell which way shows best so then cuts the rest on that angle ---- ones that are already dug and in a store that are not marked does make it a little harder -- if they have ridge lines on the outside then try cutting a couple on the ridge ---if that doesn't show the best then move a few degrees off the ridge

Great link! I got some thundereggs from Toad also and was contemplating how to cut them too. There is some really neat stuff inside and I want to be able to bring it out in the best way possible. This will really help alot!
