Hi all. Yesterday I finally got the chance to set up the tumbler my sweety got me for Christmas. It's a Thumler Model B with a 15lb capacity hex barrel.. very nice! So I set up myspot in the garage, open the box and start reading through the assembly instructions. Remove the motor from the inside of the barrel.. check. Attach motor to motor mount.. check. Tighten nuts.. check. Place belt over drive shaft.. um.. belt? belt?? WHERE'S THE BELT??? It seems they forgot to add one small part to the mix.. the freakin' belt! After calling around fruitlessly (New Years Eve right) I had to settle for calling some place in Oregon and placing an order. Of course the mail's not running today so I'm on hold here for a few days. Oh well, the glass is half full and this just gives me more time to do my homework and make sure I get it just right. Hey Happy New Year all!

Oh man I would be going nuts about now! First chance I got I would be calling where ever she got it and raising a big stink. On a lighter note what are you going to put in it for it's maiden voyage? Dave.

Oh boy ...what a disappointment That's a BIG tumbler! I'm not familiar with that model but i bet it has a large pulley and it might be worth a trip to a hardware store to look for a vacuum cleaner belt that might fit... Just a thought.. it's probably what I would do.

Definetly contact thumlers. I bought a ultra vibe 10 and my foam liner starting peeling away from the lid. I called thumlers and had a new liner in 2 days. They are a great company.

Thanks all for the advice and for commiserating with me! Luckily I was blessed with mucho patience. I suppose you have to be with this hobby, eh? I'll be calling Thumler's here shortly. I have the order in with Facet's out of Oregon so If I get an extra one all the better. Dave I believe the "maiden voyage" will consist of a couple pounds of chevron amethyst I bought from the bay recently, as well as several pounds of AZ green jasper I collected near the Maricopa site last week. I have a few chunks of sodalite I may throw in as well. As it is softer, I'll be checking it after a few days to make sure it doesn't disappear on me. Take care, Brian

Hi Brian, Sorry to hear you not having a belt!!
Be careful of what type of belt you buy. There are belts and there are belts.
Some places advertise Thumler's Belts but they are nothing but "O" Rings that will deteriorate very quickly.Been there done that.
I saw a "deal" on Thumler's Belts for a buck a piece so like a fool I bought 10 of them as I had 3 15 lb units at the time and like to have spares on hand.
They ended up in the trash after being eaten up in just one night!!
I went to the Thumler's web site and bought them from there.I "think" they were around 2-3 bucks a piece but last for a long time.
The "O"Rings are OK for the smaller tumblers but the larger tumblers have a lot more of a load on the belts.
Good Luck,,,,,,,,
