There is a funny story about the BP and me, leaving the area in the old Buick with somewhere around 400 lbs of rock in the trunk after the first trip. Looked like I was smuggling half of Mexico into the US, yeah got the full search.

I'm sure you all know about knee pads. I just got a pair of real nice ones at Harbor Freight for $3.99. Excellent velcro straps, 1/2 inch padding and the center part (knee) has hard plastic. I used them already as I was cleaning out my tumbling rocks and they worked great. If you don't have a Harbor Freight in your neck of the woods and you would like a pair for the Blitz, just let me know and I will get them for you. When we get to Alpine you can buy me a Coke or something and we'll call it even.

Yes, the cactus is alive (I think), although we may have over watered it a little.
I think I hauled closer to 200 lbs out of the Marfa ranch, and that was after culling about 100 lbs. I've never seen so much agate.
That Mexican restaurant is quite good.
Spike, is that bluff the one near where we parked and I found the big block of sagenite?
Dang, I wish I were joining all of you! Sounds like fun!

I'm sure you all know about knee pads. Spike says they helped him move through the pointy/stickery vegetation. If that's why you wear them, get a pair of shin guards too! Yes, the cactus is alive (I think), although we may have over watered it a little. YAY! If it's pot doesn't have a drainage hole, lay it on it's side until the water drains out. Spike, is that bluff the one near where we parked and I found the big block of sagenite? Did you ever cut the sagenite? The bluff he's talking about is another 2.5 miles into the East Side, back where I lost my keys. Where we stopped was somewhere in that first dip of the red line(left side). On the right side, below the yellow push pin, you can see a ravine. He wants to hunt between the ravine and the road(red line). Later, jeri

We need to repot the cactus; it's still in the water jug. We've been ignoring it for a couple of months so that we don't over water.
I haven't cut the sagenite yet. In fact, I haven't had much time to play with rocks at all.
That ravine looks promising, as does the center of the map!
Let me know if you find a nice chunk of flower garden that you're willing to part with!

Have any of you ever seen the Marfa lights? They are awesome. Maybe we can go on one of the nights. Marfa is tweny five miles from Alpine.
Chuck do you have pics of the Marfa rocks you collected? I'd like to see them. Rough, cabbed, polished, or what have you.

I remember seeing the cut offs on the highway to watch the Marfa lights. What else would we have to do at night? At least one right? As for pics and I know you asked Chuck but I have a few all the above, I will get them together unless he response. A Marfa trip is not in stone yet, There is a factor that is beyond anyone's control the unnamed ranchs owner is in poor health and has been for awhile. When she goes there will be no access. I have a call into the guide but noting yet.

Look at the area under "My keys" in the pic. That is not visible from the road so thinking virgin with all we found along the road. over the years.

I think that I will try to come out and tag along with all you experienced hounds. However it looks the dates are running Sunday to Saturday?
I would need to be driving out early Friday the 12th and hounding on Saturday...anyone planning on staying through to Sunday?

If you could make it the week before, drive out on Fri. the 5th, there might be some people arriving on Sat. When it gets closer to the trip, people will start posting what days they're arriving and leaving. Later, jeri

It never hurts to make a reservation. When I first called KCs, the guy said he didn't think reservations would be necessary for the 2nd week in April. On the other hand, Spike heard there was a biker thing in town that week. (I can't find anything about it on the internet.) So I guess to be safe, we should all make reservations. I called Dorothy... She's not sure if they'll make it. They're trying to work out the finances like most of us. Later, jeri

The Marfa trip, That's not a given. The Unamed ranch owner was in poor health then and when it passes to the daughter she has already told the guide it will be closed to rock hunting. I had emailed the guide and JUST found out I misspelled the address so nothing new. IF we get to go there? Rock like I have never seen before but dreamed about was found 50 ft. from the truck.( I called Robert to gloat Fixed the address so will know more soon. Even if without (maybe?) Marfa this will be a Epic trip. Not speaking for her but Jeri and I have talked about going to the UP? Honestly I have all the rock from WWR that I could ever work I am only going for the people. We are (Jeri and I) going to bug out for a day so we can go to Stillwell to find something lost and if enough time to dig up the Pet wood tree I found (really want those roots). This will be a great time of laughter and reconnecting. Can't wait!
