Those are really neat. I like the way there's still a bit of the exterior pattern intact. They do start out rough. Bet the rounding off take awhile all right.....Mel

What a difference! What kind of vehicle goes with the the tire-to-beat-all-tires in your avatar? How do you change a tire like that ? Or is that a very tiny man next to an ordinary tire? ;D

It takes only 3 days tumbling with no grit to wear to these: These are not heat treated and still yellowish ![](http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8358/8436101662_23652fab10_c.jpg) These are heat treated and turned red ![](http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8512/8438885914_8bd654cca4_c.jpg) This load was almost all heated. The unheated load will look totally different after tumbled. Had to add 20 pounds of coral to the initial 35 pounds tumbler load over that 3 days.So 55 pounds of raw coral in 3 days and a big mud puddle.Washed mud out every day, topped her off with coral and added fresh water. This coral came from vein 4 R.Fourth vein up on right of river.Collected from 4 of 12 veins discovered. This is what vein 4 R looks like, ready to tumble straight off the ground ![](http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8357/8326621262_34c5391d56_c.jpg) This is 4 R and USS Coral ![](http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8215/8338727655_edcbaa388f_c.jpg) Plese enjoy Thanks for looking

Smore great looking stuff. I have some polished pieces that jamesp sent my way that are harder than rock and have a great shine. Pretty neat that you can see the coral pattern in there. Looks like snowflakes or something in there. Good stuff. Thanks a bunch jamesp for sending some of your finds my way. I made a neat display out of them that will be with me for a long time. I thought it was cool to get it from the river man himself.
I like the name of your boat. You need to add like a Marie at the end though. Like USS Coral Marie. What you think? Nah. Maybe that will be the next boat.

My Dad was a fighter pilot stationed on the carrier'US Coral Seas'.So i had no choice. He just looks and shakes his head Brad.Glad you noticed the fingerpint;that coral pattern runs 3 dimensionally throughout all this type coral.Only occasionally is it outlined in color.Artifacts are quickly ID'ed as coral due to those tiny pipelines.Saw oil raises hell cause it gets caught in that system of tiny pores.

Great looking material with tons of character. Knowing it's provenance makes it even more interesting.
