Some that I did yesterday Donnie gave me this rhodocrosite. I think this is from Colorado? I got it ready to put in a setting today Bruneau. Yeah, it broke, but I wasn't going to give it up without a fight Zebra agate Daniel sent this to me. I've got another sencery piece of this that I think is quite awesome and is on the to do short list. Polkadot agate I understand that the chinese are making stuff that looks just like this. I believe that they are calling it "Crab Fire Agate". This is not that! I hounded this here in the Holbrook area some time ago and cabbed it and set it in the to do later drawer. I took it to Quartzsite figuring that someone down there could tell me what it is. Nobody knew for sure. It's not coral or, (was hoping) bone as the cell structure isn't right. So, I inquired of Mel and he gave me good info for this. So, here are some possiables, 1) Carnelian shrinkwood 2) Hexagonally Fractured Carnelian 3)Fractured and Rehealed Chalcedony Finished side Backside It is solid thru and thru. Sure wish I could find some more of this!! Thanks for lookin........g

Your cabbing skill is fantastic, whatever rock you use!
That last cab looks like Krystee's mystery slabbette... early heat cracking that filled in later?

Gary, phenomenal cabs! I have some semi-clear chalcedony with sort of the same effect as your carneliany cab. I don't remember where I got it, but I also got some similar pieces with botroidal formations, ranging from significant to slight--the "slighter" they got, the more water-worn the pieces look. My theory on my piece is that it is botroidal formations that wore down to flat. I'll try to get a decent photo--needs a lot of backlight to really show. I think once it's cabbed, it will show more like yours, it's pretty thick right now.

Awesome cabs Gary! Your last one looks nearly identical to a slab that I was trying to ID. Mine has a lot of the carnelian type colors to it as well but not as bright as yours. Here was my thread and if you go to page 2 you will see the polished slab with some of the orange colors showing. Solid stuff and did polish like Carnelian. Wish I had more whatever it is... forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?board=rocksidlib&action=display&thread=57417&page=1

Wow! Those are some incredible cabs!!! In all honesty, I can't pick a favorite. But, the last one is juicy. I'd love to know what it is and where I could get some. I feel for you having that bruno break.
