Went to the 'rock' show yesterday. Got there not long after it opened. There were already a hundred people in there. It was a pretty cool experience. There were about 20 or so vendors. Thumbnail specimens by the thousands. There were a few fossil guys but the stuff they had were more mainstream like ammonites, tribolites, bugs behind glass. Some ice age bone. One old feller had a neat display with 10 or so wooden display boxes with fossils and agates in them. Material wasnt over the top but still pretty cool. Flourescents display with light that was pretty neat. I have been studying jaspers and agates pretty hardcore thanks to this website and I could I.D just about everything in there. One guy had at least fifty different jaspers and at least 100 cabs of each. His work was amazing. Every vendor in there was an artist in some way. Very neat designed cabs and jewelry with different metal designs around them. Id say the guy that got the most people around his table was a fossil seller. He had quite a bit of stuff. Seemed like all the vendors had their material prices very reasonably. I almost bought a slab of Bruneau. Out of all the thousands of cabs and jewelry I didnt see one cab made from gembone. No gembone anywhere. I would really like to display my bone, petwood, jasper, agates at this show next year. I think they would be a hit. Id love to take them there and display them along with other things I have. Seen some coral but it was just bland with no color. Seen some tumbled coral but it also had no color. JamesP coral would sell out in the first hour, guraranteed. No rough material there except for the flint knapper guys. They were making knives there. Pretty cool. One guy had a tribolite for display that was like a foot long. Perfectly preserved. It was amazing. All in all it was a good experience. Might go back tomorrow morning just for the heck of it. I had a great time just looking at all the thumbnail specimens, even thought thats not really my thing. Still liked seeing all the different locations.

Last night was warm around 50. Today up to 10 inches of snow. Crazy weather here. Im glad I got to go one day. It was a good time. Cant imagine Quartzite.

thank you two for the headsup. Im going to try and make them both. I know where the first one is at the park. I use to ride dirt bikes around that area at Flat River. Very cool place. That area was Jesse James' hideout.
