That looks to be Ocean Picture Rock from British Columbia, Canada. It's not a quartz gem and is unrelated to Madagascar's Ocean jasper. It is pretty material though and is famous for it's ocean scenes. Not sure exactly what it's composition is.....Mel

She is correct, it is rare but I have 3 large slabs of it so it is still out there. Beautiful stone though!

Thanks all! Good job Mel - you really nailed it. thanks for the Etsy post Chuck.
I'm actually glad I didn't know it was kind of rare or I would have been too scared to cut into it heehee. Too late now obviously.

Chalk it up to another newbie mistake but in hindsight I really wish I had done this before I cut it. When tracing out patterns I was completely focused on above water scenes etc. and didn't notice the underwater 'fishies' aspect. This surprises me because my previous hobby (obsession) was tropical fish lol. Oh well its how we learn I guess... Thanks again for the help

I've got a large slab of it too. It is hard to find but can be found. If you wait on it, it pops up on Ebay now and then. Beautiful cabs though! You should wrap 'em and sell 'em... or just sell 'em.... except maybe your favorite one or two. I would look to see if I could find any similar ones out there before pricing on just the cabs or even pendants. Cathy

I'm still so new to this I don't know quite what to do with them and I've never sold anything like this. I'm at the stage where family members are lining up and pointing out the ones they want heehee. That's good I guess...I would hate to spend all this time and money and not really produce anything nice. Regarding wrapping - I think my fingers are too fat :-) however we are seriously thinking about giving it a try soon.
