Good luck Christopher. Anybody in SO CAL ought to check it out. If you like old iron, the show is at the antique tractor and steam museum grounds. They have a huge amount of antique tractors, farm equipment, trucks, and steam powered equipment to see. Great bunch of people in that club too.

This is a really great show, I've been going for the last several years, and IT ROCKS! There's no admission fee, and once you've had your fill of rocks, you can wander around and check out all the antique iron on the premises. Here's a link to the steam engine museum's page, so you can see what they have to offer - www.agsem.com/ Don't forget to bring your camera. I love the way the tailgate is set up in a big field, spaces are marked out, and (once you've paid for your space, talk to Ray) you just pull your vehicle in and set up shop! And then there's the arm-bending around the campfire at night, and Karaoke, too! Doesn't look like it will rain this year. I have yet to spend all three days up there, still have one dog - and dogs are strictly verboten!! Two years ago, I saw some fossilized pinecones for sale. I saw them when we first arrived, and not wanting to spend all my money in the first five minutes, I thought I'd go back and get them later - NOT! Someone way smarter than me snapped all of them up. Live and learn... I'll be there on Saturday. See you there, Christopher. Jean

Jean or Christopher, if you could see how Ray Pierce is doing and let me know I would appreciate it. He had a serious health problem at Stoddard Wells and ended up at the local hospital.

Will do, John. How long ago was the Stoddard Wells tailgater? The Palomar club had their show at the Steam Engine Museum in mid-March, and I'm pretty sure I saw Ray there then(although I didn't talk to him). I'll ask him how he's doing when I see him on Saturday. Jean

Well, I made it up to the show today. An hour drive (each way), and spent almost seven hours walking around. Boy, were my feet glad to get out of shoes when we got home! Spoke a little bit with Christopher (his kids were having a blast!), and managed to spend about $35 on slabs. Got a variety of stuff, but also picked up a couple more slabs of dino bone. Why is this stuff so addicting? I haven't even worked any yet, but it is just so cool!
John, I spoke with Ray for a little bit, and asked how he was doing. He said, "Okay - I think." That's Ray for you! I didn't pry, but he seemed like he was doing pretty good, running around and keeping everything under control. I left him my obsidian sphere preform (purchased at an estate sale a week ago) to finish for me. Hope to see him next month with it finished! Jean

We had a lot of fun out at this show. This was the first year we did it. I really like getting to meet the folks on the boards in person. Ray seems to be getting around just fine. He said they did all sorts of test and couldn't find anything. I told him it was probably gas....lol
