Hi all, my garage-sale find of the morning was a couple of flat bins of cut slabs and I'm hoping that the rock-gods on this board can help me ID a few of them. I've identified a lot of the material and a lot of it is junk local rock not worth bothering with. The ones I'm posting have either stumped me or I want to be sure because there's a lot of the material. 1. 2. I was thinking owyhee but something doesn't look right to me with the scenery etc. 3. 4. 5. 6. Thanks for all the help in advance. Pt.2 might be a little more difficult heehee.

Okay - and people can correct me if I'm off base: #1 looks to be the color of Willow Creek material #2 looks like one of the more colorful rhyolites/wonderstones #3 looks like cave onyx which was just posted here kekoweef caverns forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?board=rocksidlib&action=display&thread=59121#4 the matrix looks like the coquina that is found at pt mugu except the size of the fossils are larger than I'm used to seeing. #6 looks very familiar but i can't place it.... anyway - others can feel free to alter my thoughts

thanks for the replies guys. I'm agreeing with your assessments on #1 - we'll call it Willow Creek.
#2 I"m still very curious about - I think you're probably right on the location - also thought it might be a Utah or Nevada rhyolite but I've scoured the internet but can't find anything that has this combination of the blue area and the red/purple pattern...
#3 cave onyx... got it. Probably no way to ID it without seeing the original outside rind.
#4 mud with shells, got it. hahaha. Believe it or not it actually takes a pretty nice shine. I was just messing around with it and don't have a cab to show off yet though.
#5 might be more of the local stuff that I found so many slabs on. I found something similar in a small rock I found down in the central CA valley - Panoche Hills.
#6 - good guess with the orange calcite - looks a lot like it from color and consistency standpoint. It's not calcite though - I powdered some of it and it doesn't react at all to vinegar and it's harder - still pretty soft, maybe 5-6 on the scale but it actually takes a nice shine. Based on the green rind and inclusions - and the fact that there were green aventurine slabs in the bin, I'm pretty convinced that it's orange aventurine.
Any other ideas please keep them coming, thanks.
