When I first joined this board a week or two ago, snowdog pm'ed me to see if I needed any rock to get going in this hobby. Got my box of rocks yesterday and for anyone who was still unclear (probably very few of you!) - snowdog rocks. He sent me a box of stuff that had me oohing and ahhing for a couple of hours. Not only did I get a nice mix of tumbling agates and such - I also got some cuttin' rock and some beautiful slabs! I felt like he packed in quite a bit more value than I paid for. Now to see if I can figure out what it all is! I could barely contain myself as I sat down with my squirt bottle, a towel, my new box of rocks and my dog. He apparently was just there because he thought there might be something for his belly because he didn't share my enthusiasm for long - though he was good to lick a few rocks as I showed them to him - something to file away for future rockhounding trips. He actually was downright disgusted by the time I showed him the 12th rock. I, however, am still hyped up by everything snowdog sent and wanted to share my joy with the rest of the board - as well as give snowdog a shout for his generosity. Thanks again snowdog - you made my week! ;D (Unfortunately, the very sweet touch of adding a few lady bugs as a bonus must have been a better idea on paper as they didn't survive the ride with the tumbling mix. )

LadyBugs!!! That is funny as I got a box of Montana Agates from Snow- and there was a small chunk of Styrofoam cooler and a dead ladybug in my box too! Must be something I don't get??? As for the ID on the rocks- Well Pictures (as you have probably know) would be helpful in the ID!!!! Congrates on your first of many Fixes

lol - I didn't mind the ladybugs - though I think they might have minded at some point... As for the peanut butter rock - I got some too! Almost has an oily feel to it. I stuck it in front of Ruckus' nose (my dog) and he just snorted and frowned at me - so it obviously wasn't chicken fat or peanut butter. Pictures? Pictures!?! Who has time for pictures!?!?!

Ladybugs, I haven't got a box(s) of rocks from snowdog (yet) but I did get quite a surprise in 2 of the boxes I got from bearcreek a long time ago. I was going through the first box of mixed tumbling rough like we all do,,squirt bottle, wet pants and hands, etc. when I came upon this strange brown petrified looking material. It was small, brown and didn't react much when I we it.I put it off to the side and kept treasure hunting.I found several pieces in that box and also in my 2nd box.I wet them each and put them to the side. As I sat there ,my little friend Homer (our Beagle) laid down beside me as he always does and he started farting!!! Peeeeewww!! Nothing worse then dog farts!!!!I took him out and all he did was sniff the ground and bark at nothing. We came back in and he laid down beside me again as I finished treasure hunting.Man oh man,,,,He starts farting again!! Peeeeeeewwwwwwyyyyyy!!! I took him out again figuring he really had to go this time but no luck.Back in again!! Grrrrrrrr!! By now I had all the rocks sorted and was deciding what to do with the petrified (whatever). As I picked it up it was still wet and had become un-petrified!! It was dog shit!!!Peeewwwwwwyyyy!! It might make for a necklass to wart off guys tryin to pick up the gals!! It seemed too soft to tumble so I just threw it out in the back yard!!! Ya never know what you'll get in a Flat Rate Box!!! connrock

See, Snowdog was thinking ahead for you. A few million years ahead. ;D
I'm sure petrified dog poop will be all the rage in the auctions then.

People that buy amber think bugs in it are cool and pay extra for them. Connrock, you've got a gold mine there! Is Snowdog generous or what!

I mentioned wanting to repay Snowdog's generosity - and though this wasn't really what I had in mind...I do have two pre-rock fabricators of my own that I'd be happy to either loan out or put on a faster production schedule...to be honest, they leave me more pre-rocks than I know what to do with...

I've never received a "Snow Dog box" but I have received a few boxes from some of the nicer folks here. Like Cher, and yes you Tom....thank god I've never "lick tested" anything YOU sent me. But, no matter. The folks here are the most generous I've ever met and I just want to say Thanks to all. Also, Dad has been cancer free on his past two visits so he's free and clear!! Thanks for the prayers and the gifts of rocks to chear me up. Tho I'm still tumbling a batch of Wonder rocks Tom. Still trying to get that "wet look"!!

I got my box of apache tears and tumble mix. Awesome! How do you get so much in there, Snowdog? My 10 year old already snagged the agate end cut off and put it with his geode collection. I have a feeling a lot of these are going to work their way into his rock collection. Thanks, Snowdog! Lori P.S. Thankfully there were none of those doggy rocks.
