I went out to do some fire agate mining a few days ago. I was planning for at least 3 days of digging. I had to cut my trip a little short because I ended up having a little spill that made getting 14 staples necessary. Here is a photo of one of the agates that made the trip worth the while irregardless of the injuries you can see more photos of my harvest here.... s397.photobucket.com/user/christopherlesso/library/Fire%20Agate%20Claim?sort=3&page=1thanks for looking, Christopher P.S Wait till you all see the killer chrysocolla I dug!!!

Christopher,
That's a beautiful bounty you dug and I'm sure it was well worth the pain (although you may not have thought so at the time!). Ah, you're young, you can handle it! ;D

Christopher, Glad to see you got back out there. Fine bit of material! A spill? Motorcycle, Quad or just a plain old tumble? Did you duct tape it up and finish out the day? Bill G

No Bill I had to get out of the desert because there was a squirter at first. It filled up my boot and I couldn't find any super glue. Rest assured that there will be some in my first aid kit from now on. Also take note, it is wise to trade out your tape from time to time. Mine was all dried out so I had to use it like string and tie it. I slipped and landed my shin on a sharp boulder. There was no pain just lots of blood. I am investing in some good hiking/mountain climbing boots!!!

I'm not sure about being worth the blood and stitches, but that is one gorgeous agate!

dude that gash is gnarly. Those staples are even gnarlier. The fire agate you found and keep finding is killer looking. Id like to get me a piece of that someday and I know who to contact.

Ouch! That was a BIG price to pay for your great collection of fire agate. It reminds me to be extra careful on my outings, as I take Plavix for my heart, and it thins my blood so much that a tiny scratch bleeds like crazy! I tell my wife that a gnat flying into my body anywhere will cause a baseball sized bruise! That is a nasty wound, and I hope you heal OK. Yes, I love the fire agates you gathered also!

Thank you Scott. I am thinking of letting some blind pours go to members for $30 a pound.

I think you should charge more to help cover medical expenses. Geez Mr C. And you're young, strong and sure footed. Can't imagine if it was me! Make sure you get some good pain meds when they take those staples out. The fire agate looks fantastic.

Yeah, you're a mountain goat, can't imagine if somebody less mountain-goat-ish had been up there. ;-)
Nice stuff! Does that have multiple layers of fire? I know nothing about fire agate, but that looks pretty cool.
Save me some of the green stuff!

Pain meds? ... They gave me the tool so I can take them out myself!! Quite a few of them from this harvest are multi-layered. If you are talking about the chrysocolla Susan, you better get it soon because it is going fast right now. Once I heal I am going back out to finish what I started!!

Resurrecting an old thread ... Those are awesome pieces, Christopher. That's cool that the claim is paying off for you! By the way, did you do the stapling yourself on your leg? Bostich? Kidding. Glad you're okay. Paul
