After a month of coarse grinding, recharging, pulling out a few done pieces here and there, watching the wheels go round 'n round and daydreaming, I've finally got enough stuff to move on to the second stage! And tonight's the night! Of course I couldn't move on to the next stage without adding one of these babies to the arsenal: See ya later, I've got some 220 to do! ;D

Attaboy, BJ. That AR-12 is a workhorse with 60/90, once the lid is rubberized. It will spit out agate and jasper fast enough to keep a whole 3# line working on a one week cycle.

I hope this ain't the start of a new trend, Beef - showin' the box and not the goods! You're only allowed to do that once around here. Rich

That is what usually comes in the box. I see you photographed that one before tumbling rock one in it.

Yup Stefan.. that's what I found in the box, just as bright and shiny too! lol Dang Rich, I used up my one box shot! heh heh Two Thumlers a tumblin' : Hey Space.. how do you rubberize the lid? I've used that dip stuff on some tools before.. but it seems really volatile and harsh while it's liquid.. seems like it would eat the plastic right up. Just wonderin'.

A lid will last about three months in 60/90 running bare. Then one day you will visit your setup and find what looks like a mudslide in the tumbler base. And there will be about a one inch area missing from the center of the lid. I rubberized my new one by supergluing a 4" tire boot to the inside center of the lid. But when I did my last cleanout in the fall, I saw that it was becoming frayed around the edges and starting to peel a little. If it comes off or loose, I intend to try spreading a quarter inch layer of silicon caulking on the inside of the lid. Lids are not terribly expensive, but I don't particularly want to always have a spare around. And the mess is not nice.

By the way, BJ, that's what the head of my line will look like this coming season. An AR-12 behind a Model B. But I am going to take a page from Puppie's book and load the Model B with 30/60 or 46/70 (might throw in a couple tablespoons of 60/90 to help get the slurry going). Then I'll run 60/90 in the AR-12. It'll make it a five stage process, but I want to see if it speeds up the rough tumbling.
