I was wondering how many people that don't have a saw would like to try one out for a week or so ------ I have a little 6" that would fit in a frb that could be a "borrow it saw" --- I don't know for sure yet that it will happen-- but thought I would ask to see how many would like something like this . ---- there are a couple things that you would have to have --- one would be a board to mount it on and another would be have a motor to run it ---- and be a little bit " handy" ( mount on board and make sure belt is tight plus)as it has to be taken apart to fit in the frb (only 3-4 screws)---- I'm not sure how the blade part would work yet --- if I send one then maybe a few $ to cover wear or if you ruin it then it gets replaced with the same brand --- something like that -- if you have any ideas how that could work let me know -------- and I'm not responsible for fingers or ruined rocks ;D ------- it's just a little "rock rascal" saw and it would be a "hand held cutting " experience but if you've been wanting to try cutting and can't afford a saw then you could maybe try this for a few $$ ( postage & blade wear)--------- what do you think ?? any ideas ?

Reminds me of the knife sharpening truck that used to make the rounds years ago . . . . . feel like doin' a little drivin', Snowdog? Great idea to throw out there! If it takes off, hopefully someone can think of a way to avoid what happened to the 'Travelling Rock Box' a couple of times. Rich

I think it is a good idea. I have toyed with the idea of lending out sone of my small saws for a few weeks to someone who was thinking about getting one. the shipping is always the kicker, because it cuts into saving up for a saw of their own. I did lend out stuff to friends in town, and they enjoyed the experience.
Given the small bit of assembly, and the potential for unknowingly dishing the blade and sendign it on, and the need to have a motor (with drive pulley?) and mounting board, I think there are only going to be a small handful of people who could really participate w/o too much frustration.
Still I like the idea, and will be curious to see where it goes.

well, looks like everyone has one ;D---- 65 hits and no inquiries ?? parfive --- like the fuller brush man ?? ;D " Hi, what do you need today ? rocks, -- agate or jasper , saw ? grinder ? I'll go right out to the truck and get it " ;D ;D Stefan --- is the real reason you want me to bring it is to shovel snow ?? ;D ------- or should I load a bunch of rocks to bring too? ;D Deb-193 --- I've got one mounted that could be shipped but would prob cost 25-45 to ship it ----- at that rate it'd be cheaper to just wait and buy it like you said -------- ( it weighs about 25# with the motor and board --- no flat rater then ) any other ideas ?--------- anyone ??

I agree with the idea,it`s members helping members as it should be. When i was thinking about getting my saw,i thought about renting a wet tile saw for a day from a rental store and trying it out to see if i liked it or not,but there`s only 1 rental store around where i live and they did have 1 but it was in need of repair,so i was disgusted and i went down to Lowes and bought me one...Rocky
