YES, I KNOW! It is getting hot in the So Cal. desert regions But this isn't too far off the highway, and can be reached by most suv, higher clearance vehicles. copy the number, then paste it in the google maps address bar, press enter. (Have the map in sattelite view) 34.713528,-116.324444 So, this is one of the more productive of the jasper zones. There is all manner of color, and variety. Most of the areas by the RR tracks are somewhat picked over. Lavic jasper covers a wide area however, and this location is currently pretty loaded. Lavic is a site where the spray bottle will serve you well! Umbrella and lotsa water will allow plenty of hunting. Be alert to the sand throughout the wash you see the road crossing, there are soft areas. ;D

In addition to a spray bottle and drinking water, you might add, don't get too close to the military base fence unless you like being buzzed by helicopters, and watch for those buzz tailed snakes.
If you happen to be at Lavic on a day when the military is making practice bombing runs, pull up a chair, sit back with your favorite beverage, and enjoy the show.

If you're hunting snakes at Lavic, Just look straight to the south west. The dry lake bed with the mountains just beyond it is the practice range. If you head downhill towards the bombing range, you'll see a tall fence with lots of signs. But you'll probably see helicopters buzzing you before you ever get near the fence. In the morning, with the sun at your back, you'll probably catch reflections off of binoculars all along the mountains on the base. Big brother is watching you. lol

Pisgah ain't that far from Lavic. You should get a good view from the top of the crater down to the dry lake bed. I've collected lava from the crater for a back yard cactus garden when I lived in Riverside.

I've had good luck all throughout that southern section. Starts getting a little sandy just past that area but if you have 4x4, not a problem. Military border is about 1/4 mile west from there, marked with huge white signs. Yeah, where's the pictures?!?!
