Man I just can't catch a break with the many legged critters lately. Went to saw rocks the other day and it was kind of chilly in the shop so I put on my hoody I leave hanging by the saw. Bark scorpion in the hood stings me in the neck. Interesting and annoying sensation. For a few hours it felt as though someone was screwing a tiny red hot screw into my neck.
Then, it being chigger season, I got a dang chigger right below my right nipple, so a few days of terrible itching. in a spot where scratching looks weird.
Then, yesterday I was going out to use the weedeater so I put on DEET for the stupid chiggers. Problem is, Fire Ants are truly royally pissed off by DEET and I hit a nest with my weed eater and shot fire ants ( Or FAR ants in Texican) up the leg of my shorts where they proceeded to sting me in all kinds of fun places.
Then, this afternoon while sawing rocks, I dozed off a bit and leaned my head against the wall of my shop where some kind of pissed off spider proceeded to pop me in the back of my neck raising a big ole itchy lump.
I'm beginning to think the creepy crawlies have it out for me this week *L*.....Mel

Maybe your fire ants will get chased off by crazy ants...

Man, that sounds terrible. Yeah Billy, one nice thing about living in the north, where I am and likely you as well, you only need to watch out for rattlers (at lower elevations) skeeters, deer and horse flies. We do have black widows and brown recluse, but not in this part of the state. Killer bees will never make it this far north either.
I went to Missouri some years ago to meet my outlaws, and was so taken by the beauty of the woods that I tromped right off to explore. I was quickly advised that all manner of malicious flora and fauna awaited me. . . kind of a buzz kill. . . here, I can toss out a tarp on the ground for my sleeping bag and not worry about any spiders or other crawlies that cause more than a medium bump. Depending on where one is, the occasional bear or moose are a possibility. I prefer them to smaller venomous critters any day.

Dang..... and yesterday I was complaining about water shooting in my face! I'm so glad we don't have all of the mean biting insects in WA! Fleas in the yard and mosquitos and a few spiders is all I have to deal with!

You know what works GREAT on chiggers and even annoying bug bugs? Nail polish!! Just paint a dab on and the itch stops immediately, and in the case of chiggers, they just suffocate and stop bothering you.

Krystee; Texans have a saying that goes something like, " If it don't bite, sting or stink, it has horns or thorns."....Mel

Let’s hope the nail polish doesn’t clash w/the pointy-toed fence climbers. ;D

Rich *LOL* Good one. I'll have to use clear polish or pick me a color that is a bit subdued. Wouldn't want to outshine my boots *L*....Mel

Well, I meant clear nail polish:P. You don't see it... although once I got bitten up by mosquitos and couldn't find any clear, so I ran around for a few hours with purple spots all over... it would have made JamesP smile, since he thinks I'm an alien anyway:).

I'm originally from Amarillo but grew up on a Wyoming Ranch in Centennial and a few other places before settling in Washington. His biggest saying though was, "It sure will feel good when it quits hurting." LOL!

Mel mix water sugar and borax in equal amounts and place cotton balls soaked in the mixture around your anthills, kills 'em dead.

I recommend 72 hours of bedrest. Do not leave the bedroom for 72 hours. Just in case.

Mel, that looks like a Bark Scorpion. Is it a Texas specimen?

NICE!!
You can get $5 a piece for them wholesale and Texas allows sales of scorpions.
Rock money! No killing!
If you'd like I can make a contact and see if he's into it.
