Sat, went to one of the best Rock Sales EVER, is was the 3 time going to the Roger's sale. The fist 2 time I pick up some great rough material. This sale I picked up mostly slabs, specimens, jewelry, faceting rough, opal, turquoise, varascite, Blus Biggs. The Rogers is selling the house, and wanted all the rough rock gone, so they said just all you want for free. I picked up some great wood from AZ (35 pounds for one rock) also some Burro Creek. I only took about 50 pounds of rock, but my wife took another 300 pounds for the garden. Could not asked for a better day of rockhounding in a backyard. Dan The FREE ROUGH Just some of the stuff I bought .......

Yes, you guys all missed out! It was the best ever! Who can turn down free rocks? We also went (and met Fish and his wife), although we only had less than a 1/2 hour drive. It started at 8 am, so we arrived about ten to fifteen minutes early. There were at least 20-30 people waiting for it to start. At 8 am, they let us all in. What a crowd they had! They had a lot of specimens, priced ridiculously low, 25, 50 cents, a dollar. I'm not so much into specimens, but picked up a few nice ones. Most were boxed and nicely labeled. They had soda flats with assorted slabs (maybe 20 to 25), $3 for each box. (I got three flats.) They also had a lot of jewelry (necklaces, rings), findings, coral - Fish is being modest, he made a killing! He showed me the 35 lb, bowling ball-sized, colorful, fracture-free piece of petrified wood - NICE!
As Fish mentioned, the Rogers have already had a few sales over the last couple years. This last time, they were also giving away all the rock on the ground in the backyard. I also brought home quite a bit of it, haven't had a chance to get pics yet. Will post some when I do. ( I still have to post pics of what I picked up at the San Diego club's BBQ a couple weeks ago.)
The house was located less than a mile from the beach, so parking was a bear. We ended up parking about four blocks away. But since they had an alley behind them, they opened the back gate (after most of the people had picked their treasures, paid for them, and left), and we were able to park in the alley and load up. That's how I met Fish - he saw the RTH decal I got from Beefjello on the back window of my truck! Will get some pics up asap! (Among other things, I picked up some really nice dino bone slabs, and a few chunks!) Jean
