After the Fed X guy ran for his life I went out and retrieved the box. Good Lord! I didn't know I ordered that much stuff! It doesn't take much grit get really heavy does it? I staggered as far as the washing machine and perched the box on there to unload. Sure enough on top was Shawn's official "South Dakota Rock Tumbling Candy." I shared that with my son. He got a kick out of that.
The Lot-O is smaller than I expected and the parts fit really, really tight. I called the manufacturer because the fans were squished against the sides. They told me that wasn't normal so my husband pulled the fans out to the ends of the shaft like they are supposed to be. It took me a couple minutes of wrestling with it to finally get the barrel out. Are they always that tight? I can't imagine trying to squeeze it back into the frame if it's fully loaded.
The block isn't quite dry enough to stick the tape down yet. I think the chill outside is keeping the paint from drying very fast. I don't want to get over zealous and mess this up so I'm going to wait till it's dry to go on to the next step.

The barrel is typically much looser. If I don't have it full enough, it pops up and loses vibration.

Hi Lori, The barrel doesn't have to be pushed all the way down so that the "nub" on the bottom of it hits the base of the frame.
As long as you can push it down far enough so it will stay in the frame while it's working it will do fine.
My barrels were a little "stiff" when I first got them but thay have loosened up quite a bit.
Make sure that the 2 counterbalances in the fan wheels are lined up with each other and do not run the unit empty as it can and will break the springs.
Good luck and ask away!

So far I like it. It seems to do a good job. I could already tell a difference in some of the rocks last night after I cleaned them up.
No tumbling today. I got a second paver and we glued the first one on top of it. I'll try again tomorrow and let you know what happens.
