I have been finding more colorful wood than usual in the Rio Puerco and wanted to share a couple of slabs that I cut yesterday. The slabs seem solid, despite all of the lines that are visible. I'm getting so if I suspect a fracture I try to break it to avoid wasting my time on an ever increasingly small cab. I'm cutting alot but need to work on a better photo situation. Apologies. Tom

Very impressive wood, Tom! It looks a bit like Mel's (Sabre52) Texas shrinkwood. I took the liberty of attempting values correction on your photo, using the particle board as a benchmark. Is this closer to true colors? Thanks for sharing, Bill

Bill, looks like the pics were taken wet. Pic #1 was probably correct. Nice slabs!

Hey Tom, Phil (Albuquerque) here. Where have you been going? Los Lunas access or Belen? Or maybe even Rio Ra ncho's Northern and/or Southern boulevard routes... I've been going out looking for some nice red material that isn't jasper, but not finding alot. Plenty of browns, whites, blacks, etc.. typical Puerco material. Thanks! Phil

Indeed, a nice 'shrinkwood' find!
