We will be driving through Arizona in August for vacation. Are there any good rock shops I can hit between California and New Mexico?

I don't know if the one in Tombstone is still open that I went to a few years ago, but the guy was a real jerk. It was kind of on a hill.
The one that is on the main tourist part is run by a really nice lady and I recommend her shop. It is in the same area as the Earp House and Gallery. The jackass one is further east if I recall.

Barc, If you come through Holbrook, I'd recommend a stop at Jim Grey's Petrified Wood Company. Careful selection from his petrified rough piles can yield some mighty pretty woods. Huge selection of other stuff too. I'm not sure but one of our frequent contributors may be affiliated with Jim Grey's and worth looking up to say howdy. His RTH handle is GR. Gary forgive me if you are not close to Jim Grey's. I see that Reyes Rock Shop in Benson might be worth a stop as well (never been there). Feel free to sing out when you come our way in central NM. I second the Jim Grey's. When you go, don't forget to check out the crapper. It is like a museum.

Check out the crapper eh. Not where I would store anything I would want people to see. Maybe he is just short on space If I go I will have to ask my wife and daughter if there is a display in the ladies room as well. I feel kind of funny asking them what they saw in there though ;P

If you can stop by Konings right outside of Wickenburg, you won't regret it.

One thing I forgot about until now. There are a few rock shops in Holbrook, but I have never seen them open. 2:00pm on a wednesday is a great time to be open. Or you would think...

We stopped at Jim Grey's last Thursday after our trip to the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert. WOW. I was shaking after our trip through the Forest. All those rocks and not being able to hound any of them.
