The Fallbrook Gem & Mineral Society show is a small one, but there are always a couple of good finds to be had. It has been a couple years since I was last there. Now they have expanded to a fall festival with the usual additional folks selling stuff. Anyway here is what I got. I got most of this stuff with my eye towards making knife handles. The best find of the day was actually not at the show. On the road into Fallbrook I saw a sign showing that someone was having a garage sale with rock items. I stopped by and picked up a slice of the Gibeon meteor 5 1/2" long weighing about 3/4 lb for $10. The largest piece I see on ebay is half that size and going for $110. Some of my finds are not identified so if you could help me out with that I would appreciate it. Meteor Palmwood Mystery green1 Mystery green2 Mystery blue Mystery red Imperial 1? Imperial 2? Mystery green is Rocky Butte jasper from Oregon. Mystery Picture IMO is either disaster peak or wild horse. Imperial 2 definitely Imperial, cannot wait to learn what mystery blue is, that looks very cabbable.

Mystery green #2 looks like Mariposite. Imperial #1 looks more like Willow Creek to me but #2 is Mexican Imperial....Mel

"Mystery Blue" looks like either Green River/Lizard Skin "jasper" or maybe Artillery Mountain. Pretty cool slice!
I'm thinking "Mystery Picture" might be Cripple Creek Jasper if not one of the 2 mentioned, above.
"Mystery Green 4" is definitely Rocky Butte Picture Jasper. "Imperial 1" is definitely Willow Creek Jasper. "Imperial 2" is definitely Imperial Jasper. "Mystery Green 3" looks like either a jadeite, green apatite or maybe Tremotite, though I don't really think so. Rick

Cool! Thank you all for helping with the Ids. Now I have a better idea of where to start.

Wow, did you score, or what? (Regretting that we weren't able to make it that day.) Some nice finds at the show, but I can't get over the meteorite you found on the way there, not to mention how little you paid for it. Woohoo!

Looking forward to the cabs, especially from that Willow Creek and the Mystery Red.
