When Conrock visited this summer, he left me a number of slabs that I have started picking away at. It has been a real treat to work on some different material, but there are a lot of unknowns that you may be able to help ID. Unknown 1 Unknown 2 Unknown 3 Amazonite Possibly Deschutes Brazilian My favorite of the batch was a rather thick wedge shaped slice of amethyst. Rather than fight it, I worked with it. This is a double sided pear cabochon. I tried to keep the girdle at constant width and allow the dome to bulge out on the thick end of the wedge. Amethyst 1 Amethyst 2 Darryl.

1. is Disaster Peak Picture Rock 2. looks like either Desert Picture jasper or Starry Night jasper (same area and nearly identical) 3. looks like hickoryite 4. yes, that looks like Colorado amazonite 5. yes, that is Deschutes

Hmmm. I'd agree # is Disaster Peak/Arroyo from McDermitt area. I'd say #5 is Chicken Track Picture Jasper and #3 is Nevada Wonderstone....Mel
