I had a bunch of scraps that went through the coarse grind in the past.I filled 2 Loto barrels, and wanted to put 500 grit in the loads, which I rarely use.The only 500 I had was ao,which I had ordered by mistake. To make it short,it ran for ten days, due to laziness.Didnt see the need to run in polish. The batch I had to squeeze the barrel to get some of the large pieces of wood in the barrel This is all local wood More local wood More wood Some bots, coral on bottom Bunch of smalls Thanks for looking snuffy

Those look great. I always use 500 AO in my Lot-O. Do you prefer SC? I've never used 500 SC, so now you've got me wondering if there's a difference in how it works.

Since this is the first time I used the ao 500,cant really compare.I'm sure if I left the sc in there for ten days, they would be polished too!I usually go to 1000 out of coarse, but thought these rocks could use a 500 bath.I think there has been a discussion on here before about the ao and sc 500. snuffy

They look damn good to me. So, what happens there? When you run for ten days the 500 AO breaks down and turns into polish? If that works can I put a batch in with course and run it for a month? I don't think you are half as lazy as I am when it comes to tumbling. Jim

AO 600 wears to polish basically. AO does not fracture as much as the particles get smooth.

For what it is worth, I've used both 500 AO and 500 SC. On quartz and granite, I liked the AO better.
