Saw this on a FB group and thought it was good information....
Someone yesterday was having a problem polishing Jade and was asking for help. Jade is not that hard to polish if you know how, same like anything else. We as cabers we are used to go thru the process of cutting and grinding using the different grits of diamond on a Genie or a similar machine then polish the stone using cerium or tin oxide, if we do the same with Jade, we end-up with a lousy finish and scratches called "orange peels". Here's the trick you need to know to get a super finish, first cut and grind your jade the normal way you cut any cab up to the 600 grit, from there use a worn 600 grit sanding belt DO NOT USE WATER (dry sanding), next I use 50K diamond for polishing then buff it with ZAM. In the pictures below I used a piece of Black Jade (black will show any scratches or orange peel). The first picture is after dry sanding with the 600 grit, the second after using the 50K polishing diamond and the third after buffing with ZAM. I hope this will help to clear the mystery of the orange peel.

Going to save this as I like jade.
Agree with @shotgunner re privacy. Son says FB aim is not social media, but rather a data collecting device.

Terrific post (and terrifying avatar). I used your suggestion and polished some jade pieces with stunning results. My wife was very excited for me when I showed her the results. This is the sort of advice I love finding on this forum. ~Hound.

Grind jade dry?
Uh... no, I don't think so.
Anybody have a method that won't lead to a slow and gruesome death?
Jade is such a nuisance, wish it would behave so I could do something with all this rough.
