Just when @shotgunner thinks he's seen it all ... this is an tiny non-remarkable little nodule that I picked up in our campground area. I think it might have fallen out of rockpickerforever 's pocket but I can't be sure. I didn't expect much but kept it because I could see a hint of fortification on the exposed agate area. How cool would it have been to have been among the first to rockhound this area 50-60 years ago? they were probably finding stuff like this everywhere.

Wow seriously. The craftsmanship on that unit looks top notch. Just think if I had it I could finally replace all my lost marbles!

Very cool. Looks like it was a sagenite spray that was fully replaced. Used to be small nodules similar to that on the hill just above and on the left side ( as you face up canyon)of the parking spot where the fluorite mine site is. Found some hunks of a broken geode up there that had been huge. Took them in for our club silent auction one year. That hilltop would probably be worth some digging.....Mel

That makes sense Mel because our campground where I found this was just on the other side of the hill(s) on the left when looking down the fluorite mine canyon. That will give Scott and Susan something to do when they get down there in a few weeks

elementary brought home a larger than basketball sized geode. Broken albeit, but huge! I think he found it on the ridge above the fluorite mine.

There are places where those nodules are scattered in profusion. If we ever head out there, I'll show you where. Here's the nodule/geode @shotgunner mentions. It was completely fragmented but from a different deposit than the one that Tommy is showing. It doesn't look to be nodular, but rather the agate filled in crevasses or hollows in a different material. For comparison Here's a nodule from the deposit across from Pepto Bismal hill: Wish I had more. Some of the better fortification A pseudomorphic sample from 1/2 to the west of Pepto Hill Hope you don't mind the intrusion. Lowell

Hope you don't mind the intrusion. Lowell No way, your post is not an intrusion at all Lowell, thank you. Im really happy to confirm my nodule is not a 1-off piece. I can't wait to get back down there with you guys and look for more.

Beautiful nodules, and nice finds. Will you be face polishing those or making some small cabs?

I thought about making small cabs - maybe for earrings but I think so much of the rock would have to go away that I doubt if they would turn out. I also don't have a flat-lap or sanding machine so I'll probably just stick them on a shelf display for a while.

jamesp's coral and North Cady's materials are the same. I am convinced. Same what I know not. But same something for sure. Look at the similar structures, shapes, colors, patterns.... Either north Cady's were an ancient seabed or the Huitlacoche River was an ancient volcano. Don't make me make a thread. It'll cost me a couple hours I cant afford at the moment. elementary, thanks for sharing the giant geode. Musta bee four foot diaameter before broken.

Tommy , I've never seen that nodule before in my life! You never know what can fall out o f your pockets when they are stuffed full, lol.
Tiny is okay, size isn't everything. And it's what's on the inside that matters. The area we camped that last night had some purdy nice stuff. Great find, Tommy.

Parking Lot "Leaverites" are some of my favorites... guess I should start scouring campgrounds too.
