Going to Orlando in late March. Plan to spend several days at Disney, Epcot, Universal etc...
Looking for other things to do in the area. Considering Kennedy Space Center - but a lot more expensive than I was hoping. Going to Clearwater beach for a cheap hangout day.
Any other suggestions for things to do while there. My sister and I will be there with two 11-year olds, a girl and a boy. Looking to stay cheap, but willing to spend for an experience they won't forget.

Ocala national forest is good for a nice hike. Lake George ( jamesp? is this the right lake?) might be a good place to hire a fishing guide.

I have ridden ATV's across it. I takes 2 long days if you stay on the ATV trails. That place is big (330,000) acres.
Many trails. My place backs up to it. I get lost back there. Many more unmarked trails than marked. $300 if you ride on unmarked trails. It is all white sand. There are moguls and banked turns. The moguls will kill you if you get too fast. The banked turns are up to 12 feet tall and darn near vertical.
If you get in a block and get lost in it you can get caught in the scrub. You may go 2 miles in scrub and die. Every 3 feet forward is so strenuous it strangles you and physically wears you out.
Tent camping during summer is a not. And the ticks are rampant. Little tiny ones that can not be pulled off. They dig in. The ticks are the only thing that bothers me or scares me. I have had over 300 at one time.

They are breathtaking. And geological. You have to go a bit north. Blue Springs is pretty. www.floridasprings.us/2006/08/blue-spring-state-park-2100-west.htmlYou could go to Silver Glenn at Lake George. Then drive around and look at the monster lake George. It will give you a ride thru the Ocala Nat. Forest too. But at least drive to a spring. Great for family out Let me know Toad. I know the area around Lake George as Scott mentioned. And the resuraunts on the south side of the lake. That area is wilderness and i can put you on some jungle/wetlands around there. Also Alexander Springs.

seed ticks, that's what we call the little one's, immature forms I think, suck! (in more ways than one lol) I can remember taking a bath in Pine Sol many times when I was a kid to get rid of those things after getting eaten up with them. Hope you have a great trip

Hope you have a great trip The old timers solve the problem of seed ticks w/clothing. Big ticks-OK Seed ticks-Bad. They wear full length lite weight cotton pants and long sleeve button shirts. Tape the sleeves and the cuffs. Button up the shirt at the neck. So they are sealed off. White reflects the heat best.
